2023 Radiothon presented by Pharmasave is a success

The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation Radiothon for Healthcare presented by Pharmasave was on the air once again this year on October 26th & 27th, 2023, broadcasting from the beautiful Elmwood Golf Course clubhouse.  This year’s fundraising efforts were going towards the purchase of a Thulium Fibre Laser System.  Procedures with this laser would include blasting kidney stones and dealing with enlarged prostates.

A Thulium Fibre Laser or ‘TFL’ is the latest medical advancement for treatment of kidney stones and enlarged prostates.  When “blasting” stones, this laser dusts stones or reduces the stones down to a fine dust like sand, allowing for a much easier passing.  This means of stone destruction helps the disintegrated pieces pass quickly to reduce the size and amount of fragments that could become new stones in the future.

After a major gift of $50,000 from the Estate of Rodney & Dorothy Elmgren and another gift of $25,000 from Ted Hanlon, the Foundation was able to surpass their $150,000 goal and ended the two-day radiothon with a total of $172,493.  The staff and board of directors of the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation would like to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, donors and listeners that helped make this event another huge success and enabling us to continue to keep healthcare strong in southwest Saskatchewan.
